First Ward Councilwoman Janice Maly addresses supporters after learning of her victory on election night.

First Ward Councilwoman Janice Maly won a third term in office by handily beating her opponent, Carol Humphreys in every one of the 11 voting districts in the First Ward.

Maly garnered 67% of the vote with 3,333 votes to her opponent's 1,712.

Seventy percent of registered First Ward voters turned out at the polls which closed at 8 PM.

Maly said, "I am grateful that the people showed their appreciation of my service to them over the past six years by returning me to office by such an overwhelming majority. However, now it's time to get back to business. We have major issues to tackle and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get back to work."
